You may view, download and print content for personal, non commercial use. Any commercial reproduction, republication, modification or distribution requires our written permission.

3.  Advisory Disclaimer

General information only

The content on this website, including our Insights articles, market commentary, trade and investment figures, and service descriptions, is provided for general information only. It does not take your individual objectives, circumstances or needs into account and should not be relied on as advice when making decisions.

No advisory relationship

Using this website, submitting an enquiry or having an initial conversation with us does not create an advisory, professional or client relationship. A relationship is formed only when we have agreed the scope of work in writing and both parties have signed an engagement letter. Where there is any inconsistency between this website and a signed engagement letter, the engagement letter prevails.

Not legal, tax, accounting or financial advice

Nothing on this website constitutes legal, taxation, accounting, migration, financial product or investment advice. While our team includes a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, content published here is not accounting or taxation advice and should not be treated as such. Where specialist advice is required we will tell you, and we can introduce you to appropriately qualified and licensed professionals.

Market information and forward-looking statements

Market data, trade and investment figures and sector commentary are drawn from sources we believe to be reliable at the time of publication, including government and industry sources. Figures change, definitions differ between sources, and currencies and reporting periods vary. We do not warrant that this information is current, complete or accurate, and we are under no obligation to update it.

Any statement about market opportunity, growth or likely outcomes is an opinion based on the information available at the time. It is not a forecast, a guarantee or a promise of any particular commercial result. International expansion carries risk, and outcomes depend on factors outside our control.

Third-party information

Where we refer to third parties, including members of our professional network, we do so in good faith. We are not responsible for the services, advice or conduct of any third party you choose to engage, and you should satisfy yourself as to their suitability.

Seek your own advice

Before acting on anything you read here, obtain advice tailored to your own circumstances from a suitably qualified professional.

4.  Complaints & Feedback

Our commitment

We would rather hear when something has gone wrong than not. Feedback and complaints are taken seriously, handled confidentially and used to improve how we work. You will not be disadvantaged for raising a concern.

How to raise a concern

Contact us by any of the following, and tell us you are making a complaint so we route it correctly:

What to include

It helps if you can tell us what happened and when, who was involved, what effect it has had, and what outcome you are looking for. Please include any relevant documents.

What happens next
  • We will acknowledge your complaint, normally within 2 business days.
  • We will review it, which may include speaking with the people involved and asking you for more detail.
  • We will respond with our findings and any action we propose to take, normally within 3 business days of acknowledgement.
  • If we need longer, we will tell you why and keep you updated.
If you are not satisfied

If our response does not resolve the matter, you may be able to take it further:

  • Contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
  • If your concern relates to the conduct of a Chartered Accountant, contact Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand at charteredaccountantsanz.com
  • For other matters, you may wish to seek independent legal advice

5.  Conflicts of Interest

Why this matters in our work

Our work is built on relationships across government, industry and professional services in Australia and India. These connections are valuable, but they can sometimes create actual or perceived conflicts of interest. We believe in being transparent about how we identify and manage them..

Where conflicts can arise
  • Introducing a client to a professional adviser or commercial partner with whom we have an existing relationship
  • Advising more than one client pursuing the same opportunity, market or partner
  • Acting for a client whose interests differ from those of another client, a partner organisation or a referral source
  • Personal or financial interests held by our principals in an organisation relevant to an engagement
How we manage them
  • We consider potential conflicts before accepting an engagement, and keep considering them as the work develops.
  • Where a conflict exists, we disclose it to the affected client in writing.
  • We proceed only with the client’s informed agreement, and where we are satisfied we can still act fairly.
  • Where a conflict cannot be managed properly, we decline or withdraw from the engagement.
  • Where we act for clients with competing interests, we put arrangements in place so that confidential information is not shared between them.
  • Client confidentiality is maintained throughout, regardless of how a conflict is resolved.
Referrals and commercial arrangements

When we introduce you to a member of our professional network, we will tell you if we have any financial or commercial interest in that referral. Our introductions are made on the basis of suitability for your situation, not on the basis of any benefit to us.

Asking us

You are welcome to ask at any time whether we have an interest in a party we have introduced, or any relationship that might affect our advice. We will answer directly.

6.  Professional Conduct & Ethics

The standards we work to

Avantika’s work is built on trust. Our principals have held senior executive and professional roles across more than fifty countries, and we hold ourselves to the standards those roles require.

  • Integrity: We are honest and straightforward in our dealings and give you our considered views, even when they may not be what you expect to hear.
  • Objectivity: We make independent, impartial judgements and do not allow personal bias, conflicts of interest or external pressure to influence our advice.
  • Professional competence: We take on work we have the knowledge and experience to deliver, and are clear when specialist expertise is required.
  • Confidentiality: We protect your information and never use or disclose it inappropriately.
  • Professional behaviour: We comply with applicable laws and regulations and conduct ourselves in a way that respects our clients, partners and the professional standards we uphold.
Professional membership

Peter Pryn is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and is bound by that body’s code of ethics and professional standards in addition to the commitments set out here.

Confidentiality

Our clients often share sensitive business information with us, including expansion plans, financial details, partner discussions and investment intentions. We keep this information confidential during and after our engagement, and only disclose it with your consent or where required by law. We are also happy to sign a confidentiality agreement if you prefer.

Anti-bribery and corruption

We do not offer, give, solicit or accept bribes, facilitation payments or improper inducements, and we do not permit anyone acting on our behalf to do so. This applies to all our work, in every market. We comply with Australian laws on foreign bribery and with applicable anti-corruption laws in the markets where we operate. Where an engagement involves government or regulatory bodies, we engage transparently and on the merits.

Honest representation

We describe our experience, capabilities and networks accurately. We do not claim outcomes we have not delivered, and we are clear about what we can and cannot influence.

Raising a concern about our conduct

If you believe we have fallen short of these standards, please tell us using the Complaints & Feedback process above.

7.  Accessibility

Our commitment

We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or other assistive technology.

The standard we work to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We also recognise our obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth).

What we have done
  • Text and background colours chosen to meet contrast requirements
  • Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images
  • A logical heading structure so pages can be navigated by screen reader
  • Keyboard access to navigation, links and forms
  • Form fields with clear, associated labels
  • Responsive layouts that work when text is enlarged or on small screens
Known limitations

Some content, such as embedded maps and documents provided by third parties, may not fully meet these standards. We are working to improve this and will provide information in another format on request.

Tell us if something does not work

If you have difficulty using any part of this site, or need information in a different format, email ask@avantika.com.au or call +61 432 195 860. Tell us the page and what happened, and we will help and work to fix it.
